The digital age is an opportunity to reclaim humanity
The digital era is not the end of humanity but an opportunity to regain it. Vetrya’s Social Report describes how the Group looks after people, quality of life and the sustainability of the planet.
A message from our co-founder
The digital era is not the end of humanity but an opportunity to reclaim humanity.
If we are able to take care of people, of the quality of life and of the sustainability of our planet, we will be able to live in an era in which we no longer see men working like machines, but machines carrying out the work of men.
These words come from Katia Sagrafena, Co-founder and General Manager of Vetrya. They set out the spirit in which the Group prepares its Social Report: technology is valuable when it frees people from repetitive effort and leaves room for creativity, care and responsibility.
What a social report is for
A financial statement shows how a company performed in economic terms. A social report goes further and shows what the company did for the people and communities around it. It describes choices, relationships and results that numbers alone cannot capture.
For Vetrya, the Social Report is a way of being accountable to everyone the Group deals with: Clients, colleagues, partners, shareholders and the territory in which it works. It turns values that are stated in the Vision and in the Code of Ethics into facts that can be examined.
Publishing such a report also encourages the Group to keep improving. What is measured and shown in public tends to receive attention, and attention leads to better practice year after year.

Three priorities: people, quality of life, sustainability
The message from the co-founder names three subjects that guide the Group’s social thinking. Each one connects to practical decisions made inside Vetrya every day.
People
People come first. Technology should extend human ability, not replace human value. This is why the Group invests in training, in healthy working environments and in products that are easy and pleasant to use.
Quality of life
Digital services can save time, reduce effort and make everyday tasks easier. The Group aims for solutions that improve life at work, at home and in the community rather than add pressure.
Sustainability
Looking after the planet is part of responsible innovation. The Corporate Campus in Orvieto is a place where research and innovation are developed with ecological sustainability in mind, including solutions that combine digital technology with renewable energy.
Machines doing the work of men
The most memorable image in the message is the hope of seeing machines carry out the work of men instead of men working like machines. It reflects a long-standing promise of technology: automation of the repetitive, the dangerous and the tedious.
Vetrya’s work with artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and the internet of things points in this direction. Intelligent software can process large volumes of information, monitor equipment and handle routine requests, so that people can concentrate on tasks that need judgment, empathy and invention.
Doing this well requires care. Automation must be introduced in ways that respect workers, develop their skills and share the benefits fairly, and the Social Report is one of the places where the Group reflects on those responsibilities.
Learning and the next generation
The Corporate Campus hosts auditoriums and training rooms used for events with Italian and international universities and for the activities of the Bottega Digitale and Vetrya Academy. These spaces show a concrete commitment to education and to preparing young people for the digital economy.
Sharing knowledge with universities, students and professionals is a social contribution in itself. It helps build the skills that the territory and the country need, and it keeps the Group connected to new ideas and talent.
Responsibility toward Clients and partners
Social responsibility is not limited to what happens inside the company. The Group’s Code of Ethics and its code of conduct for suppliers and partners extend the same principles of transparency and fairness to commercial relationships.
Protecting information is another form of responsibility. The Group’s Information Security Management System shows its care for the data of Clients and partners, which people and organizations entrust to it.
Reading the reports
Readers who download the Social Reports will find a record of how the Group describes its identity, its activities and its relationship with the community. They are useful to Clients who want to know the values of a partner, to young professionals considering a career, to students and researchers, and to anyone who wishes to understand the Group beyond its commercial offering.
They also fit with the other sections of the Vetrya site: the Profile and Vision, the Values, the Code of Ethics, the Corporate Campus and the Security pages, which together offer a full picture of how the Group aims to put people at the center.
An open invitation
The Group welcomes the interest of Clients, partners, students and citizens in its social commitment. The Social Reports are one way to start a conversation about what technology companies owe to the communities around them, and about how digital innovation can serve people better in the years ahead.
